May Recruitment Rebound: It's Happening!

After a traditionally slower April—thanks to Easter, school holidays, and multiple public holidays—May has brought a noticeable shift in momentum. Recruitment is back in full swing, and we’re seeing it across every corner of the market.

April often acts as a natural pause button. Teams are scattered, decision-makers are away, and many businesses use the time to reset before mid-year targets take priority. But as May kicks in, it’s all systems go.

We’re seeing the signs everywhere:

Job ads are increasing – Businesses are back to hiring with intent.
Candidate activity is rising – Jobseekers are re-engaged and ready for their next move.
Teams are at full strength – With everyone back on deck, the pace has picked up.

This makes May one of the best months of the year to hire. It’s the sweet spot before the mid-year slowdown in June/July and well ahead of the spring/summer recruitment rush.

What this means for employers:

Now is the time to get ahead. If you’ve been thinking about adding to your team or filling a long-standing vacancy, the talent pool is active—and competition is only going to grow.

Here’s how to make the most of it:

  • Review your job ads and employer branding
  • Shorten your hiring process to secure candidates faster
  • Partner with recruiters who can help you move quickly and strategically

The May recruitment rebound is here. Don’t miss the wave—make your next great hire while the market is moving.
